Detail Review: Suspense of ‘Footfairy’ is the only suspense of this entire film

‘Footfairy’ Detail Review: Sometimes it seems that the desired success that Netflix has not achieved in India is true, because in the case of Indian content, the films selected by them and the films and web series produced by Netflix are completely cut off from the Indian public, their low popularity. is the biggest reason. The Indian content that we get to see on Netflix seems to be completely level-headed. A new name has been included in the strange films on Netflix of the film ‘Footpheri’ made in the year 2020. To say this is a murder mystery, in which there is a serial killer who kills a lonely girl on the railway tracks by suffocating her (by putting a polythene bag on her mouth) and cutting both her legs with a sharp-edged weapon. takes away the tax.

Fills the corpse in a large suitcase and throws it around the same tracks. The police and the CBI are unable to reach the real murderer even after trying their best. The story seems fine at first glance, but when you see the film made on it, you find it a very incomplete film, because the drama in it is very dry. Watch Footfari on Netflix only if you feel like watching a movie that confuses you. Director Kanishk Verma’s name was recently revealed as the director of Disney+ Hotstar’s latest web series “Shoorveer”. Before this, Kanishk has directed another film named Sanak in which Vidyut Jammwal was there. This film “Footpheri”, is Kanishk’s first film. In 2020, it was launched directly on television instead of cinemas, and then in 2022 its Marathi dub was also released, and is now available on Netflix in both languages.

The story of the film is of a serial killer. Seeing a lonely girl walking on a railway track in the dark of night, this serial killer closes her mouth in a sturdy plastic bag. The girl’s breath chokes and she dies. The killer takes the girl’s body to a secluded place, cuts off her legs with a sharp-edged saw and throws her body by the side of the tracks, encasing her in a red suitcase. Inspector Vivaan Deshmukh (Gulshan Devaiah) starts investigating the case. There are many sources available and every time a person is arrested, he does not turn out to be a murderer and in the meantime another blood comes. Vivaan gets frustrated but keeps trying.

There is hardly any evidence that the girl whose body was found was all returning from the same restaurant before her death. Upon investigation, the owner of the restaurant, Joshua (Kunal Roy Kapur), becomes suspicious. Suddenly an eyewitness is found who recognizes Joshua’s portrait and declares him to be a “foot hawker”. Joshua is arrested, but is released as no strong evidence is found. During this, a little girl living in the neighborhood of Vivaan gets bloodied and Vivaan gets angry and breaks Joshua’s bone and ribs. Still no evidence is found against Joshua. Joshua files a case against the police and Vivaan has to leave the job and he moves from Mumbai to some other city. After many years Vivaan comes again to Mumbai and just like that he walks again on the railway track where he finds a child who says that a while ago someone else also stopped that child and asked that that child should be saved. Did you get anything? Vivaan feels that it may or may not have been a “foot ferry”. Vivaan follows him. The film ends.

There are many good things in the film and some unanswered questions too. Gulshan Devaiah’s acting is among the good things. Although his voice certainly did not match his character and he should have prepared a little more to become a police officer, Gulshan’s face and his big eyes would make any criminal to confess to the crime by simply staring at him. Is. Apart from Gulshan, the character of Sagarika Ghatge as his girlfriend is also well composed.

By introducing two professional people to their friends, they can befriend them. This fine detail of Mumbai has been shown well in the film. Sagarika and Gulshan’s friendship is also growing in a very good way, without any unnecessary romance. The conversation between the two is also very settled, light and cute. Kunal Roy Kapur’s character is the best. Ever since his entry, every evidence indicates that he is behind the blood, but it can never be proved. The audience also thinks that he will be the killer but it does not happen. Audiences don’t feel cheated but they are desperate like Gulshan.

In the unanswered questions, Vivaan and his accomplices are always thinking about the “foot ferry” as if no other case will come to them yet. Is it like a police job? Whenever any CCTV footage of “Footpheri” is found, it never seems to be of Kunal Roy Kapur’s stature but Vivaan’s stature. Vivaan ie Gulshan can be a murderer if seen from a new perspective. He has enough time to do every bleed. When he leaves his job and moves to another city from Mumbai, till that time no murder takes place. However, his conversation with the child in the climax proves to be contrary to this theory.

Kunal Roy Kapur tells the police that he is fond of seeing beautiful legs of girls but he is not a murderer. Gulshan never thought that the planning could be done by Kunal but the murder was done by one of his accomplices. Kunal cannot be the killer either because the serial killer has some frustration in his mind about which he does not tell anyone while Kunal accepts his attraction to the girls feet.

Those who have been reading books about murder mystery or serial killer stories or watching movies do not have to tell who the killer can be. Gulshan and Kunal are out of doubt but one of Gulshan’s associates could be behind these murders. If you want to know who is that fellow, then watch “Footpheri”. Bong Joon-ho, director of the famous Oscar Award winning film “Parasite” of 2019, directed a film inspired by true events in 2003 – Memories of Murder. Inspired by this film, director Kanishk Verma made “Footpheri” and left the puzzle of who the murderer unanswered for the audience. It’s like watching “foot ferry” but we have a habit of getting the murderer caught. Nothing like this happens here.
